Let Your Worries Fly Away

Ever had a situation that just seems Spiral you
down the long dark tunnel of negative thinking.
Afterwards you look at the situation and think
now, what was that all about.

Last week, I had a 10:30 a.m. flight from Boston
to Tucson.  I started out a couple of minutes
late, no worries, that's normal for me.  I ran
into traffic about halfway there.  My first
twinge of worry and fear hit. Soon traffic is
crawling and I'm really worried.  I'm thinking:
I'll miss my flight, Why didn't I leave earlier,
I'll never catch the connecting flight, all sorts
of negative thoughts are just zipping through my
mind.  The more upset I got the slower the
traffic moved.  Finally, my son, who was driving
me to the airport, said "hey mom, you didn't even
laugh at that last joke" in truth, I hadn't even
heard him speak.  It was then that I realized how
completely consumed I was with the worry and the
more worried I got slower we moved.  I quickly
shifted gears, visualizing clear roads, a quick
check-in and easy security check (a small miracle
at Logan) traffic started to move.  I arrived at
the airport at 9:40 a.m. a mere 50 minutes before
my flight. Although there was a line at the
skycap I approached the check in counter indoors
to find I was the only one in line. When I looked
at the security checkpoint the line was long yet
as I approached another line was opened and I got
through security in less than 15 minutes. I
arrived at the on gate with time to stop for
coffee and a muffin.

There are two emotions fear and love. There are
varying shades of each but when you boil it down
there really are only two.  The emotions based in
fear are draining and limiting.  Sometimes, they
can be quite insidious. Worry and doubt can
easily slip into every day life. When you worry
what you're doing is protecting fear into the
future. The tool that I use to quickly shift my
energy from fear-based to love-based was to
imagine myself as a small child, boarding a plane
to go on some wildly fun vacation and without a
care in the world.  My focus was on the fun that
I was about to experience.  The beauty was that
it quickly shifted my energy and perception.  Not
just in the moment, but for the rest of the day.
As I looked out over the clouds as the plane flew
away, as I landed in a new city for the first
time and as I met new people who may become
friends and colleagues, there was an air of
playful fun for me, that I completely and
thoroughly enjoyed. Are there areas in your life
that worry and doubt have started to creep in?

May 8,2008

Hi {!firstname_fix},

I just returned from a trip to Tucson. I loved the cactus in bloom, the beautiful sunsets, the mountains, and of course the warm sun. I was there to attend a Brand Authenticity workshop. It was inspiring, expanding, and a lot of fun. Watch for some new products and services as well as a new look!

I also had the immense pleasure of meeting a
cherished friend for a couple of days and she has agreed to pen segment for this newsletter called Kerri's Klarity sharing her insights on her journey of conscious competence. It's sure to be a must read.

On May 28th Kerri and I will be interviewed by
Her Freedom  for their radio show on self esteem, check them out here:

Next week an announcement for my new program Everyday Consciousness will be released. I can't wait to share it with you

Namaste',
Cathy
