Volume III Issue 7

Worrying Yourself Sick?

Worry, we all do it, some more than others.
What's the harm? It would appear to be a part of
everyday life. Studies have shown that the old
adage actually has some truth to it.
Worrying acts as a stressor in the body,
influences cardiac health, and can lead to
illness, not to mention it simply doesn't feel
good.

Have you ever noticed that when you worry about
something it usually happens? Someone who worries
about being late, often is. The Law of
Attraction(many of you may have heard of "The
Secret" from Oprah, The Today Show, or Larry King
Live ) says like attracts like. When you're
worrying about something, you're putting a lot of
thought and feeling into what ever you're
worrying about. It's like using your imagination
to create a negative result.

My kids used to like
to play a game we called the 'What if' game they
would think up wild scenarios and ask me what I
would do, of course I created a grand solution
complete with outrageous occurrences, it was such
fun and we always had a laugh. Worrying is like
playing the What If game only creating the worst
outcome.

When I have clients who get stuck in
worry mode now I ask them to play the What If
game creating the best possible outcome. I'm not
advocating the 'ostrich' effect, of simply
ignoring your problems, but dwelling on them
isn't helpful either. What If you excelled
at the presentation for work, you got a 10% raise,
you found just the right date?

So next time your worrying
about something shift your perspective to the
best outcome rather than the worst, you will feel
better, your health won't suffer, and energy
flows where attention goes; so you will likely be
enjoying better outcomes!!

Hi {!firstname_fix},

Change is in the air.....I
have been coaching now
for 6 years, it doesn't
even feel like a year!
One of my goals this
year was to merge all
the pieces of my
coaching; wellness,
business, & prosperity
into one cohesive unit.
The underlying thread
in all areas of my
coaching has always
been Universal Laws,
primarily the Law of
Attraction. I have
revamped my web site to
reflect the three areas
I work in; Body, Mind,
and Spirit. You will
notice some changes in
the newsletter too,
loosely mirroring my
site. I invite you to
take a look and give me
some feedback, what's
good, what's not, what
do you want more of. I
really appreciate your
input.

Namaste',
Cathy

New; Each week I will feature a herb, spice, or food
with the health benefits and recipe. Turmeric is
considered potentially beneficial for use in
connection with symptoms associated with a
variety of health conditions due to its purported
antioxidant, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and
antibacterial effects.

The active constituent in turmeric is known as
curcumin, which is believed to be responsible for
the following medicinal and therapeutic
properties:

  • Acts as anti-inflammatory by lowering histamine
    levels
  • Acts as anti-oxidant protecting against free
    radical damage
  • Protects liver from certain toxins
  • Improves circulation by inhibiting blood
    platelets from sticking together

Here is a tasty way to include turmeric in your
    diet:

    Chicken Tandoor (Baked) Recipe

    Ingredients:
    3 tsp olive oil
2 fryers, cut into quarters (I used chicken
    breast and it was great)
    2 onions, finely diced
    1 tsp. turmeric
1/4 tsp each of cumin, allspice, and ginger
    1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 c. tomato sauce
    2 c. consomme stock
    3 tsp. flour
    2 bell peppers, julienne
    4 tomatoes, cut in wedges
    fresh parsley for garnish

    Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a pan, pour oil
in and bring to high heat over stove top burners.
Braise chickens and onions, turning frequently
until thoroughly browned. Remove chickens and add
turmeric, cumin, allspice, ginger, salt, pepper,
and tomato sauce to the consomme stock. Blend
together with 3 tsp. flour and pour over chickens
which have been returned to a baking pan. Add
bell peppers and bake at 350 degrees for 35-40
minutes. Add tomato wedges 10 minutes before you
remove chicken from oven. Serve with brown rice
    and fresh parsley garnish.

    Serves 6-8
