Teleclass Facts

Tele-Classes

A Tele-class gives youthe opportunity to interact with others in a learning environment without the commute. Maximize your time and learn by participating in a tele-class instead. Just think, without leaving your home(or even your pj’s) or office, you can participate in a one-hour, interactive class with others from the other end of your town or the other end of the country. A great way to both learn AND expand your network.

What is a tele-class?

Essentially it’s a conference call, both time-efficient and cost effective, tele-classes bring all of the advantages of group learning to you through your telephone without the drawbacks of the time and cost of transportation.

How does a tele-class work?

Prior to the tele-class, you will recievethe call in number (known as a “bridge” number) and access code. At the date and time of the call, you simply call the bridge number, enter in the access code and I will be on the line to greet you for the class. It’s that simple!

Most tele-classes are an hour long. Some tele-classes are stand-alone and others are a part of a series, depending upon the topic.

What is the cost of a tele-class?

Some tele-classes are free to introduce you to topics and tools that you may not be aware of that can greatly improve your life. In those cases, the only cost is an hour of your time and, perhaps, the cost of the call (if the bridge line is a long distance number). Other classes have a fee.

Teleclass  Etiquette

When you contibute please say your name, ie: this is Cathy and I think.......

Call waiting can be very distracting, please disable it before calling in. For most local phone companies you can do that by hitting *70 after you hear a dial tone. When the dial tone returns, dial the bridge number. If that doesn't work check with your local phone company, it may be different with your provider.

Also, please don't use speakerphones. The clarity/quality isn't good enough; and unless you use a mute button the background noise can be overwhelming.

Portable phones that either have a low battery or are too far from their base creates a noise on the bridge. We ask that you avoid portable phones.

Cell phones and internet phones. We understand that sometimes a call from a cell phone is the only way you can call in, we just ask that if the instructor indicates that there is a noise problem, that you be considerate to the other students and hang up and call back on a different phone.
When calling the bridge line please be punctual.

Please, please, please use your telephone's mute button or the bridge lines mute feature if you are in a noisy environment. Background noise, the dog barking, radios, heavy breathing, snoring etc., could be a problem if 150 callers (or even just one) all aren't using their mute buttons. If you don't have a mute button, call from a quiet location, or use something to cover your mouthpiece.

Please try not to hang up prior to the class actually ending. It's not respectful of the others on the call when you hang up while they are still talking and sharing, all those hang up sounds are very distracting. If you know you have to come to a call late, or leave early e-mail the instructor.
